Quality assurance and confidentiality
A. Quality assurance
Translation requires complete trust. Our translation process is subject to strict quality criteria to ensure that we deliver translations in the quality you expect. Our quality assurance system combines the requirements of the European Quality Standard for Translation Services (EN 15038) with our own criteria. Here is a summary of the key elements of this system:
- Thorough admissions procedure for any freelance translators we accept
- Careful selection of the most suitable translator for each assignment based on the following criteria:
- The translator must be a native speaker of the target language (the target language is always the translator’s mother tongue)
- Knowledge of the subject matter
- Specialist linguistic ability (particularly in the case of advertising copy)
- Technical equipment (e.g. CAT tools, special file formats)
- Sufficient capacity to ensure on-time delivery of the translation
- Examination of the text and the brief prior to translation to identify any questions or problems that may need to be clarified and discussed with the client beforehand
- Clarification of questions and incorporation of changes that are added after the translation process has begun
- Checking of translations for:
- Completeness
- Accuracy of content and terminology
- Spelling and grammar
- Style
- Observance of special arrangements and customer requirements
- Review by a second translator who compares the translation with the source text word for word to correct any misinterpretations, omissions or stylistic shortcomings
- Final in-house check before the translation is sent to the customer
- Documentation and archiving of all assignments.
B. Confidentiality
All documents and video, sound and data carriers submitted to us are handled in strict confidence, regardless of whether they have been submitted for a quote, as source material for a translation or as reference material. All freelancers must sign a confidentiality agreement before being accepted onto our database. In the event of highly sensitive projects, we are happy to sign a separate confidentiality agreement and ensure that it is signed by the relevant translator.
To protect our computer systems from unauthorised external access, we use state-of-the-art anti-virus and firewall systems, which are continuously updated. |
